This is Blake's Week

Well I made breakfast once again, pancakes, eggs, bacon... I am the breakfast master, I am getting better at it all the time! Last night we spent a quiet night in the house, about 8PM Brandy started playing some CDs. She hasn't done that in months, she used to do it all the time, I just love it, she has such a dynamic taste in music, with lots of cool old tunes, just great for feel-good fun.

While the music played I danced with Blake in my arms. Getting to be such a task too, since the boy is pushing 45lbs now! But he held on to his daddy tight, and kissed my cheek... About bedtime, I got rather sad... He's growing up so fast. This Friday is his third birthday. It seemed like just yesterday he was born. I've been out of high school for fourteen years... That seemed to go by in a blink of an eye. The next fourteen will go even faster I'm afraid. How soon until he is too old to dance in his daddy's arms? Not very long. Worries me too, how we butt heads now, we are both such stubborn people. How long until he can't stand his old man? Who knows... But for now, we are having the time of our lives, and I can't wait to celebrate his birthday at the end of this week... He's getting a sandbox, shhhh! Oh wait, he knows, he's been begging for one for two weeks! I'll leave you with three pics of my ever-changing man, 3 months, 15, and yesterday.

Where did this week go?

Wow, this week was over with in a flash! Really a pretty decent week too, the weather was just amazing. Yesterday (Friday) I took Blake and one of my main guys, Ricardo, up to my old job, Plymouth Dairy to look around. Plymouth always has been a very nice, will built place, and Ricardo was most impressed.

Today has felt more like a cool spring day rather then a cold winter day. It's been cloudy, with rain, but still hit 48F. Slept in until 10:12, and would have slept longer if Blake hadn't of woke up at that time! Made a big ol' pot of Tim Horton coffee, which is only consumed on the weekend due to lack of supply. Today we finished the last of the supply we bought in ON this summer, and will be starting on the tin that Adam gave us for Christmas! Thanks Bro! Certainly a lifesaver!

A trip to Wendy's for lunch, and then to Wal-Mart and then it was time to sleep again! Took a nap with Blake, that was very nice... Really not a lot of dairy stuff to talk about, it's really been a slow week, which is nice. Next week on the 1st of Feb we start three times a day milking, which adds 5% more production vs. milking twice a day... So that will add some management hurdles for next week... Oh well, job security!

My Emma woke up with a curl on the front of her head today! A lot more defined in real life, but the picture is still nice too!

Why My Job is Cooler Then Your Job

Or, el cuñado de Pablo está loco!!! But more on that in a second! It wasn't a bad day today, the nice thing about my job is that I can choose if I am tied to my desk, or I can be in my truck driving around or I can be out playing with my cows. Usually it's the weather the helps me decide! Today it was rather foggy and cool this morning so I decided to stay inside and catch up on the ol' paperwork. By lunch time the clouds had lifted and the day was improving, on it's way for the 42F high that we were supposed to be getting.

Well my calf guys Luis and Oscar, my sick-cow manager (Pablo) and my boss (Smitty) thought that lunch in Sioux City was a good idea, so we headed into the Mexican buffet place called De Anda's. I had a couple of other stops to make so we hit those as well, and made it back to the dairy around 2pm, just in time for naptime for Emma. I had told Bran before lunch that I would take Blake out and let him run around the place. Just as I stopped by the house I noticed across at the dairy that Pablo's brother-in-law (cuñado) had a little mishap with the sand wagon. See pic below! The sand wagon is used to throw sand in the little beds that the cows lay in. It holds several, several tons of sand... Well he was over on the road a bit too far and blip, over it went! We had the local "long stick" come and make everything right again. The good thing is that no one was hurt. The second good thing was that the equipment was ok. The third good thing is that my little man Blake got to watch the whole thing go down by his daddy's side, and that was so much fun!

New Blog Home

Ok, so I'm not so famous for my tons of postings, but hey, hope to make a better run at it. Should have more time for it... Today I worked a total of two minutes! But that is pretty much how the job is turning into, just making sure everybody is doing theirs. My schedule last year was 6 am to 6 pm, 6 days a week (hmmm 6-6-6?), now it's 7 to 5:30, 5 days a week, with a two-hour lunch break, and when I'm working, I'm not really working! Sunday is pretty much just being on call in case something happens, or a catch-up day. I've gotten into the hobby of making a big Sunday breakfast about 10:30 in the morning too. Bacon, eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns... To die for... I am the breakfast master! So it's nice, my newer schedule leaves me more time for playin' with my future WNBA star...
